IFMA, FOUNDING MEMBER OF CLERMONT UNIVERSITE

IFMA is a founding member of the Clermont Université Higher Education and Research Alliance (in French, PRES), officially created in May 2008. The other founding members are Université d'Auvergne, Université Blaise Pascal, Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs des Travaux Agricoles de Clermont-Ferrand (ENITA) et Ecole Nationale Supérieur de Chimie de Clermont-Ferrand (ENSCCF). The PRES is a public scientific co-operation establishment, whose vocation is to promote the international visibility and attractiveness of the Clermont university site.

The objective of the Clermont Université PRES is to carry out collective projects. This common interest resides firstly in the promotion and development of the actions which contribute to the identification of Clermont-Ferrand as being strong and visible in terms of university research.

To this aim, IFMA is working towards stronger relations with the other graduate engineering schools in Clermont ( ENITA, ENSCCF, ISIMA, Polytech'Clermont-Ferrand) in order to enhance the coherence of engineering courses and identify areas where resources can be shared. Thus it was decided to set up Clermont College of Engineering, comprising the 5 schools of the Clermont region within the PRES. The aim is to develop, among themselves and with the universities, specific actions concerning research, relations with student bodies, language teaching, human and social training, international relations and relations with industry.

The Clermont Université PRES is the main instrument of the new collective ambition animating the higher education players in Clermont-Ferrand.
