MASTER'S DEGREE
The Master's degree in Mechanical and Civil Engineering is administered conjointly by IFMA and Blaise Pascal University.

The Master's in Mechanical and Civil Engineering (research specialisation: " Innovation - Mechanisms - Materials – Structures") trains students in design, development and research in the fields of Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

The course draws on the resources of two engineering schools:
  • IFMA – French Institute for Advanced Mechanics
  • Polytech'Clermont-Ferrand - Civil Engineering department

and on a Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering research laboratory:

  • LaMI – Mechanics and Engineering Laboratory

The course proposes personalised programmes to train for research in conjunction with the three LaMI teams:

- Materials and structures
- Probabilistic structural mechanics
- Machines, mechanisms and systems

  • The first semester is devoted to consolidating knowledge via modules which may be accumulated depending on the chosen programme
  • The second semester is dedicated to a scientific project in collaboration with one of the LaMI research teams

The course also relies on industrial partnerships in various fields such as automotive, aeronautical, civil engineering, biomechanics, etc.

Students graduating with the Master in Mechanical and Civil Engineering (research specialisation: " Innovation - Mechanisms - Materials – Structures") may then go on to prepare a PhD (for example at Clermont-Ferrand Engineering Sciences Doctoral School) or be recruited in a company or a private or public research centre.
